Silvia Cristina Guidi De Knappe

"I look in the mirror and it's still surreal."

The story

Silvia Cristina Guidi De Knappe travelled from Spain for keratopigmentation — a femtosecond laser-assisted intrastromal corneal pigmentation that changes the visible colour of the iris. It's one of the most-asked-about treatments at Eyeglow and, for the right candidate, one of the most precisely planned.

What stood out in her interview was not the cosmetic outcome alone but the conversation that preceded it. Silvia went through a long pre-operative consultation: the irreversibility of the procedure, the long-term IOP monitoring required, the realistic visual disturbance window (glare, halos for the first three to twelve months). 'It wasn't sold to me,' she said. 'It was explained to me.'

Looking into the mirror after surgery, Silvia told us, 'it's still surreal' — not just the colour, but the feeling of having been treated like an adult through a procedure most clinics rush you into. That is the version of keratopigmentation we want to be known for.
