Contact Lenses

Contact lenses have evolved from the 1800s to the present day and are now available in a variety of types and materials. The appropriate lens type, degree, base curve and diameter are determined by eye examinations performed by eye doctors. Lenses are generally designed to rest on the cornea and remain in place with the movement of the eyelid.

Contact Lens Types

Planned Replacement Lenses (Monthly Disposable):

These lenses are easy to use and are replaced monthly.

Daily Lenses:

They are disposable lenses used every day, they are hygienic and practical to use.

Toric Lenses (Astigmatic):

They are specially designed lenses that correct astigmatism, provide clear vision.

Multifocal Lenses:

They are lenses that correct far and near vision disorders, they solve the problem of age-related nearsightedness.

Night-Staying Lenses:

They are lenses that correct eye defects when used at night and do not require wearing lenses during the day.

Aphakic Lenses (Pediatric):

They are special lenses that correct eye defects in children, they increase vision.

What is a Spherical Contact Lens?

They are soft contact lenses that correct eye defects without astigmatism, they provide clear and comfortable vision.

What is a Toric Contact Lens?

They are soft lenses that correct astigmatism and eliminate refractive errors in the eye, providing clear and sharp vision.

Gas Permeable Lenses (Hard Lenses):

They are durable and optical quality lenses with high oxygen permeability, suitable for correcting astigmatism.

Hybrid Contact Lens:

They are special lenses consisting of a combination of hard and soft lenses, used in disorders such as keratoconus, providing clear vision.

Colored Contact Lenses:

They are colored lenses used for cosmetic purposes or to correct eye defects, allowing you to achieve a different appearance.

Chromogen Lens:

They are special lenses designed for those with color vision impairment, increasing color perception and distinction.

Therapeutic Contact Lenses:

They are special lenses used to treat disorders on the corneal surface, supporting eye health.

Prosthetic Contact Lenses:

They are specially dyed lenses used to change eye color or eliminate color differences between eyes, used for aesthetic purposes.

Contact Lens Use and Care

Steps for Inserting Lenses:

Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.

Remove the lens from its case, make sure that the inner surface is not turned outwards. If it is, straighten it.

Use your left middle finger to pull your eyelid towards your eyebrow.

Place the lens in the middle of your eye with your right index finger, and help by pulling down your lower eyelid with your right middle finger.

Look down and slowly release your eyelids so that the lens fits properly.

Repeat the same procedure for the left lens.

Steps for Removing Lenses:

Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.

Look up, lift your upper eyelid with your left hand and hold your lower eyelid steady with your right middle finger.

Place your index finger on the lower edge of the lens and gently slide it downwards to remove the lens.

Avoid using your fingernails.

Lens Care and Cleaning:

Always keep your lens care supplies handy and work on a clean surface.

Wash and rinse your hands with lanolin-free soap before handling lenses.

When cleaning lenses, always start with the same lens and avoid using your fingernails.

Cleaning:

Place the lens in your palm and place a few drops of solution on it.

Gently rub both sides of the lens with your index finger back and forth, avoiding your fingernail.

Rinsing:

After cleaning the lens, rinse it with the solution; it is important to rinse after each cleaning.

Disinfecting:

Place the lenses in the compartments of the storage case and allow them to soak in the solution.

Close the lid of the case and disinfect the lenses for at least four hours or overnight.

Properly cleaning and disinfecting lenses after each use is important to maintain eye health.
